Theresa Helfer, M.S., R.D., L.D.
Functional dietitian, culinary nutritionist, and storyteller in the kitchen, helping families reclaim energy, balance hormones, and create meals that heal.

My Philosophy
My philosophy is rooted in the kitchen where I first learned that food is connection, creativity, and care. Growing up, I cooked alongside my mother, turning CSA boxes and garden harvests into meals that felt both nourishing and joyful. That early curiosity led me to study nutrition at the University of Minnesota, train as a chef at the Natural Gourmet Institute, and deepen my understanding of functional wellness through my master’s in dietetics at Bastyr University.
Today, I bring those experiences together to help clients understand their bodies, uncover root causes, and build nutrition strategies that feel realistic and restorative. My work blends lab interpretation, lifestyle guidance, and personalized counseling into clear steps that support energy, hormonal balance, and long-term vitality. I live in Minneapolis with my husband and two daughters, and I still find joy in the kitchen that inspired this path.
Today I have three principles that guide my work:
Food should feel meaningful nourishing meals connect science with the simple rituals that make daily eating enjoyable.
Education should feel clear training in culinary arts and functional medicine helps me turn complex ideas into steps that make sense.
Progress should feel livable lasting change happens when it fits your routines, your culture, and the rhythm of your everyday life.
